As the band navigated the intricacies of their musical evolution, life threw them an unexpected curveball. During a tour coinciding with the release of their first album "Apollonia" in 2018, they confronted the devastating impact of cancer. This required a pause in their entire album campaign and the cancellation of planned shows. Undeterred, Garden City Movement suspended their activities for a few months, rallying together to support Johnny on his journey to recovery.

In April 2019 The band emerged with renewed determination and resilience. Garden City Movement embarked on a highly anticipated journey to Japan, capturing hearts with their resolute spirit and the release of their single "Miss You-Under Shimokita Sky." The song enchanted listeners, ascending to the 38th place on the Top 100 "J-Wave" Japanese chart, solidifying their presence in the Japanese music scene. Their enchanting melodies continued to captivate, catching the attention of EA-Sports and FIFA 22 curators who selected their track "Summer Night" for the prestigious official soundtrack, transcending boundaries and igniting virtual stadiums.

An exceptional opportunity awaited Garden City Movement when they received an invitation to perform at a renowned Formula 1 competition in Singapore in 2023.

In a parallel storyline, Roy of Garden City Movement embarked on a creative venture of his own. In addition to composing the original music for the critically acclaimed series "Corduroy," created by visionary director Hadas Ben Aroya ( Nominated for his OST at Cannes series festival), Roy continued his journey as a producer, lending his expertise to other artists. 

2023 brought a pivotal moment for Garden City Movement as Joe made the decision to leave the band, propelling them into a new chapter as a duo. This change in group dynamic solidified their creative direction, allowing them to further explore and showcase their unique sound in their forthcoming sophomore album.

The upcoming album is a remarkable creative endeavor, featuring collaborations with a diverse array of artists from the GCM's local music scene and one collaboration with the American artist Dreamcastmoe. Ranging from A-list singers and guitar heroes to avant-garde jazz musicians and indie rock singers, this collaboration celebrates the richness and diversity of Garden City Movement's musical journey.

Amidst their exploration of urban complexities, Garden City Movement found solace in the creative process, channeling their personal pain stemming from the tumultuous period of physical and mental health challenges: Roy battling his social anxiety and Johnny with his personal struggle out of cancer. Their forthcoming album metamorphosed into a collection of songs dedicated to urban life and the nocturnal realm, imbued with resilience and triumph born out of overcoming these obstacles and more.
